About Us

How we left the city and came to love alpacas!

My husband, Rob, and I lived in Connecticut most of our lives in a small city near New York. Farmers we were not, but we fell in love with alpacas. After visiting an open house and meeting alpacas for the first time, we thought that raising them might be something we'd like. I learned about them over the next few years, attending other open houses, visiting farms and going to alpaca shows.

Nearing retirement age, and with 3/4 of my grandchildren having moved to Michigan, we followed them. We searched for property with alpacas in mind and settled on a home with an old pole barn on the property. That's when we started our search for our own alpacas.

I was able to choose a farm from the information I'd gathered at shows and worked with a farm that had ribbon-winning animals and friendly people and animals. We purchased our first 6 animals, a mom and cria, a pregnant girl, two maidens and a gelding to guard the girls. That was in 2009 and we've been breeding, selling and showing our alpacas ever since. They have a peaceful, gentle personality and spending time with them makes you slow down and enjoy the human/animal connection. Our alpacas each have their own personality and it's fun and sometimes amazing to watch the interactions.

Over this time we've learned a lot by trial and error such as, double check to see if it's a boy or girl before you register them, don't get distracted and leave a gate "almost" closed, and there is nothing more amazing than  to hold a newborn cria in your arms.

So these city kids became farmers and never looked back. Lots to learn but oh the fun!
